Laura's Bio |
Laura is a 21 year old college student. She attended Butler County Community College in Eldorado, Kansas on a music scholarship for the school year of 2003-2004 & 2004-2005. She has participated in the Butler County Headliner Show Choir as well as the Command performance Band directed by Roger Lewis, the Jazz Band and Show Band.
Laura finished her first CD, “The Decision”, at age 17, all the music and lyrics of these songs are original, composed and performed by Laura as well as copyrighted. Her Music is recorded with Safe Haven Records recording studio and arranged by Chuck Haukos.
Since age 12 she has been singing and playing piano for worship in adult church services as well as youth services. A local Christian radio station, KCFN, interviewed Laura and played her music on their local artist show in a rotation. She has been interviewed and played on the Sunday morning show by Rebecca Dryden twice, of KFDI, 1040 AM, a country music station. In Baghdad, Iraq she was played every Sunday by the troop her cousin was assigned to. Many of the soldiers in his troop were inspired by her song, “Peace, Be Still.” She was interviewed by Dan Ostrander of KHIB internet radio about this and she dedicated her song “Peace, Be Still.”, to “those fighting in a place where it seems peace can never be.” It was played globally during memorial week in hopes those troops might get to hear the dedication. Her CD is still played by khib.tv on Music from the heart.
Corn
Bread, a Host on KFDI at the time also offered to play the song during memorial
weekend in honor of our troops in Baghdad. Many stations across the U.S are
playing her song “Look” on Light House Gospel radio show in
South Carolina, Cowan, TN, on WZYX-AM, KPRO IN CA., also
in Graysville, AL on Brewer Communication and many others.
Laura has participated in contests and won third place out of 25 at the American Family Radio Talent Search for original music, Sept 21, 2002.
Wichita River Festival 2003 in top ten of the Talent Fest.
The
spring of 2004 Laura sang with the Wichita Idol II winner, Aaron Sidwell at
several church concerts and coffee houses while opening for Vitamin F from the
UK. She is also a finalist in the
female vocalist category and New Horizons awards for songwriters in the Best Is
Yet To Come Productions in Branson, MO.
The
latest CD finished is “The Final Decision.” which includes 4 new songs. The
Wichita Eagle voted her as best original Christian Artist.
Laura will be in concert at the Christian Center in Wichita, Kansas for
the B98 FM Cancer Fund drive August 5, 2005.
